David Morrow is an attorney (Licensed in California, North Carolina & the District of Columbia) and business executive who has worked across multiple industries including entertainment and finance and has over 13 years of genealogy experience.

 

He began researching and documenting his own unique family history in 2007. Since then his personal family tree has grown to over 6000 names across multiple states and countries. He is a member of the national Association of Professional  Genealogists and the Southern California Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the American Bar Association, National Bar Association, and the Langston Bar Association of Los Angeles. He is also on the Executive Board of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and a member of the Diversity Working Group for the National Genealogical Society. In 2017 he co-founded the Facebook Group: Native & Free People of Color of Alamance, Chatham, Caswell, Granville, and Orange Counties in North Carolina. The group has grown to nearly 600 members and is a constant source of new and exciting information within the African American genealogy arena. David is also the creator and organizer for the Los Angeles Genealogy Meet Up Group, an online group connecting interested individuals in the Los Angeles area who want to talk and learn more about genealogy.

 

David has also been a presenter on issues of diversity at national conferences in Miami, Chicago, Washington DC, St. Louis, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. He has appeared on numerous 40 Under 40 lists with the National Bar Association and the Business Journal and was honored by the National Bar Association in 2013 as the Young Lawyer of the Year.

 

David's story began on an US Air Force military base in northern Michigan and would later spend the rest of his childhood in southern Germany. By first grade David had traveled to 10 countries and continues to travel extensively to embrace, learn, and experience cultural differences. In his spare time, he is a professional genealogist documenting his unique family history throughout the southern states and blogging about his personal discoveries. Originally from Washington DC, he now resides in Los Angeles, California with his wife, Erica and their son David III.
